Essay: Patriotism

Essay: Patriotism
Essay: Patriotism
John F. Kennedy has rightly said, “Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country.” Patriotism is a great asset which owns its name to the fact of being loyal towards his own country. A person who loves his country more than anything else is always ready to sacrifice his life for the sake of his country.

Patriotism is a national virtue and teaches us many things. It inspires us to sacrifice our selfish interest for our motherland. We must rise above our personal gains and be just. Also, it teaches us to be tolerant, considerate and live in peace and harmony. It develops the sense of responsibility for the country and countrymen. It binds us in in a relationship and promotes national unity and co-operation among people.

False patriotism often encourages selfishness and weakens nationalism. In Nepal, some politicians are good examples of false patriotism. They say one thing in public and do something else. To gain popularity among the public, they speak great words and show great love for the country. But in the true sense, they have an enlarged selfishness to hold the chair in ministry. People of such kind try to support the country for their personal benefit and their false activities finally lead to various conflicts and wars.

To sum up, a patriot always wants his country to lead towards succession. Every citizen should have a good patriotic feeling that can bring a social reform and that can fight all evils present in our country Nepal. So be patriotic in the right sense and let’s make the country a better place to live in.
Essay: Patriotism
Patriotism is love of our own country. It is a noble feeling towards our own nation. A patriot loves his nation not artificially, but by heart; not in words, but in actions. It is said that mother and motherland are greater than heaven. Such feeling encourages everyone to give an interest to the progress of the nation. The person who lacks such feeling is a dead soul.

The feeling of patriotism makes people ready to die for the sake of the country. It unifies every person of a nation in a single garland. Being inspired from the feeling of patriotism many people have done heroic deeds that create the golden pages in the history. The persons who have sacrificed their life for the sake of nation are called martyrs. They are immortal and honoured everywhere forever.

A patriot is liked by everybody. He works for the good of his country. He is unselfish. He is ready to bear any hardship for the sake of his country. He is even ready to die for his country. Though the patriotic are dead and gone, their names to this day fill us with thrill and inspire us with noblest feelings of love for our country.

Patriotism becomes a danger when we are blind to our national defects: “My country, right or wrong” is a foolish and dangerous sentiment. World War II began with Hitler’s boastful and aggressive patriotism. All wars are born of similar sentiments. All of us must have patriotic feelings. Patriotism doesn’t lie in thought that one’s own country is the best. We must love our country but must not hate other countries. If the people of different countries start to hate each other.

In short, everyone should be patriot. It is our responsibility to love and serve our nation. We should do whatever we can for the development our country. Then our deeds will be lauded in the future.
