Critical thinking

a. The writer seems to believe that rural life is better than urban life. Do you agree with him?

The writer was fed up with the hectic pace of life in the Kathmandu metropolis. A few of them got together and decided to go on a little trip to a little town called Bandipur. He says that Bandipur is clean and pollution free. While they were in Bandipur they saw no sign of two or four wheelers in the main town area. This made the writer feel calm and peaceful. He found the people humble, and small but clean homestay, which is rarely seen in the Kathmandu valley. He was spellbound with the hospitality of the people. He also found that the food served there tasted divine because of local spices and extra ingredients of love and affection. Thus, the writer seems to believe that rural life is better that the urban life.

b. Is the writer’s way of looking at Bandipur just a gaze of an urban tourist? Why? Why not?

The writer believes that time stops in the town of Bandipur, and it manages to escape the ravages of modern day development. When they were there they fully understood that feeling of belongingness to the place. He says that Bandipur is indeed a magical town and they were attracted to it immediately. It is something out of this world. It was like travelling back in time back to Old Nepal of a century ago. Food with divine taste, humble people, and their hospitality made the write and his friends' trip to Bandipur memorable. In this way, I can say that the writer's way of looking at Bandipur is not just a gaze of an urban tourist.

Subject: Proposal Letter for Investment

Dear (Sir or Madam),

As you know our company, is an established name in the construction sector. On behalf of ABC Construction Pvt. Ltd, I would like to inform you that we are getting into a new venture.

Our company has decided to invest in adventure tourism, so we have chosen Bandipur for the suitable place. Our investment will be in adventure tourism activities including hiking, bungee jumping, and paragliding.

Bandipur, a popular tourist destination, can offer fun lovers a variety of experiences in hiking, bungee jumping, and paragliding. History says that Bandipur was part of the Magar kingdom of Tanahun ruled from nearby Palpa, Tansen the Headquarters. But Newar traders flooded in from Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Patan after the conquest of Kathmandu Valley by Prithvi Narayan Shah. The town in those days was an important stop on the Nepal-Tibet trade route until it was bypassed by the Prithvi Highway below in the 1960s. A tiny piece of Old Nepal still lives on in that cool, cobbled Newar settlement.

Being the current market leader, we feel this the best time to involve in new ventures. It is with immense pleasure that we invite you to be a part of this business. I therefore request you to visit the place, and look for the potential.

Investing with us will only help you grow in the countries like Nepal. Attached is our business proposal.

Thanking You,

Yours truly,

Sunil Prajapati
