The Pet Detective is a 2025 Indian-Malayalam action comedy film. It is directed by Praneesh Vijayan. He also wrote the screenplay with Jai Vishnu. The movie stars Sharaf U Dheen in the lead role. This is also his debut as a producer. The film features Vinayakan, Vinay Forrt, Anupama Parameswaran, Shyam Mohan, and Joemon Jyothir in important roles.

The story follows Tony Jose Alula. He is a young and inexperienced man. He inherits his father’s private detective agency. The agency is failing, so Tony wants to save it. He hopes to impress his childhood sweetheart Kaikeyi Menon. He also wants to prove himself to her strict father.

Tony gets his first case as a pet detective. He must find a missing pet dog. The case looks simple, but it soon becomes a big problem. Tony and his assistant Sanoop try to solve it. During the search, they uncover a criminal group. The group is smuggling exotic aquatic species. The criminals also have a rare and very valuable fish.

The situation becomes more chaotic. Tony and Sanoop face danger from the smugglers. They also deal with the police. Rajath Menon, a police officer, becomes Tony’s rival. He is also Tony’s former classmate and a romantic competitor.

The missing pet case turns into a mix of kidnappings, confusion, and a large crime plot. Tony makes mistakes, but he does not give up. His actions help expose the criminal operation. The film ends with an action-packed and funny showdown.

In the end, Tony solves the case. He earns respect from everyone. He wins back Kaikeyi’s trust. He also brings success back to his father’s detective agency. Tony becomes a true pet detective, even though he never planned it.
