Connectives

Although / Though

Although or Though + situation or fact, unexpected result

Example:

Although he studied hard, he failed the exam.

Though it was very cold, they went swimming.

Exercise 1

1. The team performed well. They lost the match.

2. He studied hard for the test. He did not score well.

3. Many students made mistakes. The instructions were clear.

4. He was badly injured in the first round of the boxing match. He was victorious in the third round.

5. She failed the interview of a newsreader. She has very good accent in English.

As Soon As

As soon as + [subordinate clause (time)], + [main clause (result)]

Exercise 2

1. They saw that a tiger was prowling in the shrub near them. They attacked the tiger.

2. I reached the station. The train left.

3. She finished her homework. She went out to play.

4. We stopped talking. We saw the teacher coming.

Because

OR
