7 killed in bus accident

Chitwan, September

At least 7 people were killed when a passenger bus collided with a tanker near Muglin along the Prithvi Highway yesterday evening.

A bus (5674 NA) with 24 passengers was going to Biratnagar from Kathmandu. It collided with a tanker coming from opposite direction near Muglin. 2 people died on the spot while 2 breathed their last on the way to hospital. Injured persons are receiving treatment at Bharatpur-based College of Medical Sciences and Teaching Hospital.

Area Police Office Muglin has taken both the tanker and bus drivers, who sustained minor injuries, under control after minor treatment at a polyclinic at Muglin.

Talented students awarded medals

Hetauda, January 5

Talented students belonging to the schools of Kathmandu district were awarded medals in a colourful ceremony held here in Hetauda yesterday.

The top 3 students who had scored excellent grades in the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) exam held last year were recognized with gold, silver and bronze medals by an organization known as Institute of Science and Technology. The best among the best was Manish Pradhan from Saraswoti School.

He was awarded with gold medal. Similarly, Sanu Kaji Sherpa from S.P.S. School and Shanti Rana from J.P. School were awarded with silver medal and bronze medal, respectively. These medals were awarded on the basis of the grades the respective students obtained in the SEE exam. The Chief Guest, District Education Officer congratulated the awardees after he distributed the medals. He furthermore, encouraged all the students participating as the audience in the program to work hard in order to meet the glorious destination of life.
