Herbal oils produced in Ilam have entered France as the primary international market. The demand for Ilam’s herbal oils is high. Their prices vary according to the herbs used.
These herbal oils have many health benefits. They can be used for the treatment of colds, sore throats, and muscle pain. They are also popular among those with back and joint pain.
The growing export market supports farmers. This also helps rural livelihoods and brings economic benefits to the region.

Kathmandu, Feb 1
A large number of women staged a demonstration at two places—Tinkune in Kathmandu and Mangal Bazaar in Lalitpur on Sunday.
They demanded the speedy supply of water from the Melamchi Drinking Water Project. The project has been stopped since June 2023. Water was previously supplied in December 2022.
The project was supported by the ADB. Its suspension has caused serious problems in their daily lives. Speaking at the demonstration, protester Parmila questioned the authorities, saying, “Why has the government turned a deaf ear to our demand?”
